So, what is the CoffeeShop Blog all about?

Hi! My name is Rita and I am the blogger behind CoffeeShop and a stay-at-home Mom to two naughty but adorable little boys (Duke is 5 and Imp is 2) and am passionate about all things photography.

If you are visiting for the first time, welcome! My blog is all about photography, photo-editing (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and LightRoom), and my adventures as a stay-at-home mom. Pretty much everything you find here is created by me and completely free.

My main "claim to fame" are all of the free actions I have designed. An action is just series of programmed steps you commonly use in editing to get a certain "look" or effect. For example, you can use an action to create a soft vanilla B&W, a bright color pop, create and load a storyboard, or even retouch a portrait. My actions are special in that almost all of them run in Photoshop Elements, an amazing editing program most people can afford to buy (unlike its big sister Photoshop). And most of my actions are completely adjustable so you can get your own unique look.

CoffeeShop has plenty of other free goodies. I create custom storyboards, textures, brushes, patterns, cards, etc. and post them here. I also write all types of tutorials covering photography, photo-editing, and Blogger blog design. This blog is my creative outlet!

Grab a drink (we prefer coffee in my house!), pull up a chair, and browse the CoffeeShop. All downloads on this site are free for both personal and commercial use (just don't resell my stuff as your own, please keep it free). To find things use my top menubar, the search under my header, or check out the label cloud on my right sidebar. And please enjoy yourself! Rita

If you love using my free CoffeeShop creations and would like to make a donation to Rita the self-professed photo-editing photography geek of CoffeeShop, please follow this link! This blog is possible because of your generous support.

Download my HUGE PS/PSE CoffeeShop Action Set!

>> Friday, August 1

Here is is guys, my huge CoffeeShop action set, for free download. This monster set works in Photoshop Elements and Photoshop. It includes my newest action set, CoffeeShop CoffeeBar (works in PSE4,5, and 6), and my other two Elements-friendly actions CoffeeShop Barista (works in PSE4,5, and 6)and Vivid(works in PSE6, and I am trying to get it to work in PSE5 and PSE4). Everything you see below is in one zipped file. The download includes instructions for most of the actions, and icons for PSE6. If you have PSE4 or PSE5 you will need to turn the .png icon into a .psd icon to get it to work.

5purposedriven August 8, 2008 8:52 AM

Just what I've been looking for! Thank you!

I'm having trouble with some actions I've downloaded referring to a "play" button I don't have...all I have is the "stop" button to cancel their message screen, which causes me to lose my effect. Any thoughts on this?

Rita August 8, 2008 9:53 AM

Thanks guys! I love that you are enjoying playing with my actions. I hope they speed up your workflow like they do mine.

5purposedriven, my older actions were written for PS, not PSE, so they don't run correctly in that program. I am working on updating them.

Erin August 8, 2008 3:47 PM

Janel November 16, 2008 12:30 PM

I accidentally discovered a very cool "action-in-an-action" (for use of a better term) last night before bed and ended up playing with it until 2 AM! First, edit your photo how you would like it (I used Barista for this) and flatten image, then do the Powder Room action. DO NOT flatten! Make sure you have selected the "bright eyes" layer and then do the Hot Cocoa action. The result: a high-contrast color pop with beautiful dark chocolate undertones. Adjust the bright eyes layer opacity to lessen the effect. I don't know what it is technically doing, but I came up with some fabulous photo edits! Just thought I'd share! :)
